Real Work

Internships are stepping stones to competitive employment. Interns are expected to uphold the same expectations during an internship as they would any other job, such as not calling out unexpectedly, requesting time off according to guidelines, putting all effort into their work and learning to navigate the work world professionally.

Real Learning

Internships offer participants an opportunity for real, on the job learning with the support they need to refine their vocational skills. Instructors are present to provide real time teaching in real time on the job learning opportunities. The supports are tailored to the individual's level of support need and can be adjusted according to growth and skill development.

Real Life

Internships allow participants to build skills that teach them to manage what life throws at them. We face things every day that may impact us, positively or negatively, and how we respond to them impacts our success in work. 

Individuals in internships are expected to learn to navigate transportation independently in the early days of the internship.

Real Pay

Interns will become employees of Pleasantview Industries and will receive a pay check every two weeks. They are paid the same as others in their same position at their worksite, generally, that is minimum wage. The performance expectations remain the same as their competitively employed peers.
